Hi, I'm Zachary Adam, and I'm an idiot. AMA.

I am throwing up this open thread for the next several days to answer reader questions and give opinions on pretty much any subject given. I can't see myself being inundated with questions so I imagine I will answer every single one.

What do you think the best way to motivate oneself?

  2. Well, that first question is actually pretty easy to explain. Pretty much as long as I could handle abstract concepts, I have been what you could call a spiritual person. When I was little I actually spent part of my summers at an Anglican day-time bible camp. Then somehow I fell into Wicca, and now that I am back on the Christian side of Things, I still have that same general-purpose flare for drama and ritual. So there was that. Also, at about the same time that I began exploring the idea that I might be Christian, I was watching a lot of documentaries on various Catholic religious orders. It all just sort of clicked after that.

As to motivating oneself, I'll get back to you when I know for myself. The best I Can usually do is to either dangle a carrot in front of my face to run after, or be genuinely enthusiastic about the task I am doing.

I like to think of myself as being knowlegable in politics too, but I can't say there is any real secret. Staying abreast of the news is often helpful.

As to your laptop, there are any of a number of things you can do with it. I personally like To keep Them Around for spare parts. If it suits you, you can remove the hard drive and install it into a USB case for doing backups.
